Pay your employees

Run payroll and pay everyone from Sebenza — the money leaves your own Paystack account, straight to each employee's bank.

Sebenza pays your staff from your own Paystack account. It sends the instruction; it never holds the money. One-time setup, then payday is a few taps.

!

If Pay My Employees is greyed out, hover or tap it — the message tells you why. Usually it's Complete FICA verification (a one-time identity check), or your payroll plan.

One-time setup

  1. 1

    Connect your Paystack account

HRMHRSettings. In the Payout provider card choose Paystack (Africa), paste your Paystack secret key, tap Connect. Sebenza checks the key with Paystack and stores it securely — it never shows again.
    ✓ Connected via Paystack.
  2. 2

    Finish the Paystack side

Three things in your Paystack dashboard, once:

    • Register and verify your business (Paystack's KYC).
    • Turn off "Confirm transfers before sending" (Settings → Preferences), so payroll doesn't stop for an OTP every time.
    • Put money in your Paystack balance (EFT top-up). Payouts come out of this balance.

  3. 3

    Add each employee's bank

HREmployees → open the employee → Banking & identityBank and account number.

Test it yourself

Pay one person a small amount before payday.

  1. 1

    Run payroll

HRMPayrollRun Payroll for the period. Check the summary and approve it.
  2. 2

    Open Pay My Employees

From Payroll, or the menu: Pay My Employees. Tick one employee (yourself, as a test) with a R10 amount.

  3. 3

    Confirm

Tap Confirm & Pay. For larger amounts Sebenza asks for your password again — that's normal.

  4. 4

    Watch it go

The row shows Pending, then Paid, usually within a minute. Download Receipt gives you the proof with Paystack's reference.

✓ R10 lands in the bank account on the employee's record.

On payday

Run Payroll → approve → Pay My EmployeesSelect allConfirm & Pay. Every employee gets paid in one go, and every payout has a receipt.

Where the money goes

Each payout leaves your Paystack balance for the employee's bank. Paystack charges a small transfer fee per payout, taken from your balance — you'll see it in Paystack. Sebenza takes nothing on payroll.
